My aesthetic practice relies on the distillation of various aesthetic elements and the symbolism found within the iconographic systems of eastern religions, primarily Buddhist.  Raised in a conservative fundamentalist family, I began an alternative search to this view, which eventually found expression in Buddhism. Deconstructing the diverse vocabularies found within this source and other eastern religions has helped me attain a new and vibrant visual aesthetic. Inherent in the process of creating these images is the belief that images are capable of possessing magical apotropaic qualities and are capable of both transformation and healing.

For the past twenty years I have been making bas-relief paintings and complex drawings, many of which serve as meditations and transcendent moments of visual experience. I have a deep conviction of the transformative power of meditation and art, which together can act as powerful change agents in humanity’s quest for meaning and truth.
