ABSOLUTELY ABSTRACT art exhibition to open at YVArts FEB 2

YUCCA VALLEY, CA — The Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s new Yucca Valley Visual & Performing Arts Center will present its fourth large arts exhibition entitled ABSOLUTELY ABSTRACT, opening with a special gala and public reception Saturday evening, February 2nd from 6-9 pm.  Following the critically acclaimed success of its world premiere of THE PEARLY GATES COLLECTION exhibition, which featured fifty internationally renowned artists in a tribute to the late great curator Walter Hopps, this new exhibition is a survey of modernists’ traditions practiced by contemporary artists, touching upon the postmodern dialogue.

Within the exhibition are idiosyncratic artworks displaying a variety of expressive expanses, sharp edges, solid colors, geometric compositions, and poured or spray-painted surfaces. The process-oriented applications in many artworks are balanced with others that exhibit adept technique or masterful brushwork, resulting in a medley of emotive and visual surprises. The sculptures explore totemic forms shaped by pattern exhibiting a dependence on geometry.

ABSOLUTELY ABSTRACT features artworks from twenty-two esteemed and renowned abstract artists, including Blake Baxter, Luther Broome, Mads Christensen, Delos Van Earl, John Eden, Christopher Georgesco, Jimi Gleason, Kat Green, Emily Elisa Halpern, Yann Houri, Terrell James, William Loveless, David Mackenzie, Michael McCall, Hiroko Momii, Andy Moses, James O’Keefe, Jon Peterson, W.C. Richardson, Robin Rose, Yong Sin, and Robert Walker.

The Yucca Valley Visual & Performing Arts Center is located at 58325 Highway 62 in Yucca Valley, California, 92284.  The gallery is open Thursday through Sunday from 1-6 pm, holidays excluded, and there is no admittance fee.  All artworks in the ABSOLUTELY ABSTRACT exhibition will also be available for viewing and sale via its online gallery.  More information on the new exhibition and the brand new visual and performing arts center may be found online at YVArts.org.

ABOUT HI-DESERT CULTURAL CENTER
