ARTIST STATEMENT
The other night as I was leaving my studio and walking into the black darkness of the desert night, the light from my studio caught the white flecks of falling snow. The quiet graceful beauty of this moment captured me and reminded me why I spend my life creating.
Nature provides us with a reflection of something greater than ourselves and perfect within its own existence. This point of perspective sets up a creative challenge that makes me strive to see the world through fresh eyes and to listen to my heart.
My work is always moving forward, always developing and changing with new directions. The Teka series is made from forms that are innate to my visual dialogue, shapes that look familiar but at the same time are totally new. The work allows the viewer to interpret these shapes to find their own meaning and relationship to the pieces.
